When it comes to kitchen remodels, there are so many directions you can go, but one of my absolute favorite trends right now is the patchwork tile backsplash.

In this article, I’m sharing some of my top picks for gorgeous patchwork designs to inspire you and help you create the perfect kitchen for your home.

The Batik patterns in red, blue, green, and beige. A kitchen splashback would look absolutely beautiful in these soft pastel colors.

What I really find special about the Batik collection is its versatility. You can stick with a single color and just mix up the patterns, or do the reverse and use one pattern across different colors.

Or you can go all out and mix everything! No matter what you choose, just be sure to get equal amounts of the designs and colors for the best possible patchwork look.

The Batik patchwork tiles from Topps are a huge hit in the UK, and I can totally see why. These are such easygoing patterns that can fit into any style, in any space.

These versatile ceramic tiles are made in Italy and come in five lovely colors, each with five decorative styles. There are also plain ones if you want to tone down the mix.

Your mix-and-match idea will come together so easily since the patterns and colors are beautifully neutral.

This is such a unique kitchen backsplash design using tiles from the Almira collection by Pavigres Ceramicas. It gives the appearance of a mix-and-match patchwork pattern, but it’s actually a single long tile format.

The beautiful flowery designs imitate separate tiles, and the overall feel of this backsplash is so gentle and fresh. It’s absolutely stunning and completely modern.

The long tile format measures 7.76″ x 23.5″.

These 12″ x 12″ ceramic tiles have a 1/4″ thickness and feature blue matte, red matte, and green matte finishes. The stonewashed colors give them a true country feel.

Now for something completely different but just as gorgeous. Here’s a patchwork backsplash design that fits perfectly in a country-style kitchen.

These patterned tiles are from the Homestead collection by Artistic Tile. The company is headquartered in New Jersey and has showrooms all over the nation.

This modern, monochrome patchwork tile backsplash is perfect for a contemporary kitchen. From the Italian company Fogazza, these tiles are part of the Millennium Verde collection.

They are hand-crafted ceramic tiles with original patterns inspired by the noble sitting rooms of Palermo from the early twentieth century, which gives them that amazing Victorian look.

With a Scandinavian design influence, each porcelain tile is uniquely decorated by hand with colored glazes, so no two are ever quite the same. I just love their collection names: “Color me blind“, “Color me softly“, and “Royal Pain in the a..“.

There are so many more, all fun, funky, and frankly just stunning. They are all wonderful patchwork designs created with a bigger backsplash effect in mind.

This incredible patchwork design idea for a backsplash is from a classic kitchen in a Copenhagen townhouse, captured by photographer Kristian Septimius Krogh.

The eye-catching tiles bring little touches of color to an otherwise simple, all-white kitchen. You can get them shipped worldwide from ArtTiles, an artistic studio in Denmark.

All tiles are handmade by artists Trine Galschiot and Anette Normark, who only make 50 of each design before changing it. That means their tiles can be different every time you buy. You can pick patterns very similar to the ones pictured from their collections.

Here’s a Purpura installation for a kitchen backsplash, this time with a lighter patchwork tone. It’s interesting how both images include a few black patterns to tie in with the countertop and appliances.

It creates a very modern look that is extremely popular in Poland right now, where Purpura is located.

Purpura’s customizable mix-and-match patterns are so versatile. So many patchwork designs are possible!

Just look at these four I was able to put together using their awesome Bespoke tool that lets you design your own online.

The cool and colorful modern patchwork tiles by Purpura are in high demand everywhere.

This kitchen backsplash is made of handmade cement tile. You should definitely check out their many patterns.

This is such a delightful patchwork effect. The blue and white backsplash is from the Odyssey range’s Blue Tapestry Collection by Original Style.

The blue mix-and-match patterns look amazing on the brilliant white background.

You should check out their inspirational photos. If you happen to be in Europe, you can get similar, if not the same, encaustic tile from Cementtiles.com, a tradename of Azule BV.

They are based in The Netherlands and have showrooms there and in Germany.

A classic encaustic patchwork, with blue as the dominant color, from the Pacific Collection by Cement Tile Shop, which is based in Florida. What a wonderful collection!

This would be a perfect choice for me. I just love the patterns and the overall look of the cement tile.

Here is another completely unexpected design for a backsplash. It’s an almost rustic, Scandinavian-style monochrome patchwork with multiple shades of grey, created by the Italian company Ricchetti.

These porcelain enameled tiles are part of their Res Cover collection.
