Are you guys ready for some beautiful front porch inspiration?! We are working on a couple of different outdoor projects at our house, so I have been scouring Pinterest for new ideas.

I have found so many beautiful flower pot designs, I just had to share my favorites with you! Clearly I have an affinity for many different styles, because these pots run the gamut from classically elegant to farmhouse rustic.

1. Charming Wicker Baskets

I just adore the simple, cozy vibe of wicker baskets. On their own, they can seem a little plain, but once you fill them with an explosion of colorful flowers, the whole look is just gorgeous!

I know what you’re probably thinking, “Won’t the water ruin the basket?” That’s a great question, and there’s a super simple solution. Just place your soil and flowers in a plastic liner first, then pop the whole thing into the wicker basket. Easy!

2. Vintage Milk Can Planters

Upcycling is such a wonderful way to help the environment, and can we talk about how charming old milk cans are?! They have so much potential to be either vintage and rustic or totally cute and quirky.

It all depends on the look you’re going for. I’ve seen so many people give these a makeover, and it’s a fun project. Repainting is a great place to start, and then you can add details like bows, decals, or sweet little words.

Just make sure the color you choose works with your porch!

3. Sweet Plant Racks

Do you have a bunch of tiny potted plants you just love? Then this idea is perfect for you! Out of all the front door flower pot ideas, a sweet little plant rack is the best way to show them off.

Imagine a rack with two or three layers right next to your door. It creates such a welcoming sight. The trick is to think about how all the different flowers and their colors will look together, since the rack and pots end up feeling like one big, beautiful unit.

4. Rustic Log Planters

Okay, this is the planter you need for that ultimate rustic look. I just love this idea! Depending on your DIY comfort level and how much you want to deal with upkeep, you can go for a real log planter or a faux one.

Building one yourself isn’t too tricky, and the best part is, it doesn’t need to be perfect. The more distressed it looks, the better it fits that rustic style. Faux log planters are also a great choice; they come with drainage holes and have such intricate wood details it’s hard to tell the difference.

And what’s better than one log planter? Two of them, one on each side of your front door! Perfection.

5. Painted & Textured Pots

Who wants a boring flower setup? Definitely not me! Plain pots can feel a little drab and might even take away from how beautiful your flowers are. Nothing gives your arrangement more personality than textured pots.

I’m a huge fan of Terracotta pots, which are fantastic for succulents, but you can use any type you find. To make things even more dramatic, you can give your textured pot a coat of spray paint.

Just choose a color that complements your flowers or blends in with your porch for a cohesive look.

6. Layered Flower Pots

There’s no doubt a tall flower pot gets more attention than a short one, but tiered pots are even better! This is such a great way to add height and drama. Just buy three flower pots in different sizes and fill them up with soil.

Then you can place the smaller ones on top of the bigger ones and start planting your beautiful flowers. It creates such a lovely, full look.

7. Vintage Crate Planters

You know those pieces that can be used for a thousand different things? Well, crates are one of them, which is why I love them so much. A vintage-style crate will do wonders for your front yard.

I’m thinking of those cool crates with names inscribed on them. That’s exactly the look! Just because they’re antique style doesn’t mean they have to look old and worn out; you can buy them brand new. Or, it’s a great opportunity to upcycle your own old crates.

8. Polished Wooden Planter Boxes

This might be the most popular ‘flower pot’ idea, but there’s a good reason everyone recognizes how great it looks. A wooden planter box is an easy find, and there are so many options to choose from based on the design, wood type, and size.

You can even paint your box a single solid color or a mix of colors, depending on the style you want to achieve. With a beautiful planter like this and some colorful flowers, your front door will get an instant uplift.

9. An Antique Chair Planter

You can upcycle just about anything if you look with a little creativity. I had this old chair for a while with a missing seat, and it turned into the most amazing flower pot holder. Don’t call it old, call it vintage! You honestly don’t have to do much to it.

Just make sure your pot fits right in, and then plant some bright, colorful flowers. And here’s a cute idea: you can even place smaller pots with your house number on them around the chair. How adorable is that?

10. DIY Burlap Basket

If you’ve ever needed an excuse to buy some burlap fabric, this is it! It’s inexpensive and biodegradable, which is great for the environment. I love that it can easily turn a plain plastic basket into a rustic piece.

All it takes is some average wrapping skills and a little bit of twine or rope to tie it off. This is a DIY project you can finish in less than 30 minutes once you have your materials ready. So simple and beautiful!

11. Galvanized Bucket Planters

I’m a huge fan of galvanized buckets because they are so multi-purpose, and they make great planters. The plain metal look might be a letdown if you’re into bright and bold, but it fits a farmhouse style perfectly.

A great way to personalize them is with some handwritten words using vinyl paint. It adds just the right touch of charm.
