How to Transform Your Yard into a Garden Oasis

I love having an outdoor space that is clean and simply styled. I don’t like a cluttered yard and take pride in keeping it welcoming… but that is not always possible. In fact, I find that unless I am vigilant about it, things have a tendency to get messy.
Nowhere is that more true than on my patio, so this week I decided to face the challenge and get it organized. I ended up finding some great inspiration, so today I wanted to share a few easy tips for creating an outdoor oasis.
Get Comfy with Outdoor Seating
What good is a beautiful backyard oasis if you can’t kick back and enjoy it? For me, seating is absolutely key to any outdoor retreat, and I have a few ideas that might give you some inspiration.
If you are looking for seating on a bigger scale, this Dune Sofa from Crate & Barrel is just stunning. It gives off the vibe of a modern living room, but its breezy style is absolutely perfect for lounging outside.
And if you have the room, you should definitely think about creating an outdoor dining spot in your garden oasis! I mean, there is just nothing better than having a wonderful meal while you’re surrounded by gorgeous plants. [from Lonny]
These 2 Sussex Sun Loungers in Soft White from Bridgman come with a square side table, which you can see above.
You can pick between lime green or black upholstery for the cushions and get all the benefits of a white rattan frame that’s totally weatherproof!
Also from Bridgman, this 9-Piece Mayfair Curved Modular Rattan Garden Furniture Set is just perfect if you love to entertain a crowd. The whole set comes with five modular sofa sections, three curved stools, and one round coffee table.
With sturdy aluminum frames and a synthetic rattan weave, this furniture is ideal for being outside. You can find it in 4 and 7 piece versions too!
Have you thought about putting a chair somewhere totally unexpected? You don’t need a patio to create a spot for seating. A comfy lounge chair that can move to the shadiest part of the yard will do the trick! [from Secret Gardens]

Here’s another peek at the Sun Loungers, but this time with the black upholstery. I love how the contrast between dark and light can add such a classic, elegant touch to your backyard.
If your backyard spot doesn’t have much shade, you can dress it up with an umbrella or two. They are so stylish and practical, especially for lounging by the pool! [from Lonny]
Create an Inviting Path
A garden path really calls to you with its guiding lines and curves, making you want to go explore the plants all around.
Below, succulents line the path, which has both steps and gravel. What you get is a modern outdoor space that’s just filled with natural beauty. [from Lonny]
This outdoor space by Henry Curzon Gardens Limited has a path lined with manicured bushes. The look is so clean yet totally charming.

Make a Splash with Water
A water feature is one guaranteed way to add that oasis vibe to your yard. Even if you can’t do a pool, you might consider an addition like a pond.
A fountain, even a small one, is a fantastic way to bring the element of water into your outdoor space. This modern one from WA Design Architects gives such a sculptural feel to the garden.

Fill It With Greenery

Even if your outdoor spot isn’t covered in vines and blooms, you can add a little bit of green with potted plants. [planters from Crate & Barrel]
And don’t even get me started on the vertical garden possibilities! These Wall Planter Hooks from Crate & Barrel are a step in the right direction.

You can add variety to your backyard by layering plants in a range of colors, textures, and sizes. In the garden you see here, a tall tree adds height, while sago palms in matching urns create a manicured feel.
