10 Inspiring Master Bedroom Design Ideas

There are a million options when it’s time to redecorate your bedroom, but nailing that perfect, personal look is one of my favorite challenges.
In this article, I’m sharing some of my top master bedroom ideas to get you inspired, and help you create the perfect retreat for yourself.
1. Keep it Elegant
This home has an elegance that is just undeniable. I think the clean and crisp look is absolutely perfect for a master bedroom. The design uses very few colors, which is what gives it that upscale, elegant vibe it shows off so well.
I just love the idea of using a minimal color palette in a master bedroom; it’s a fantastic way to create a feeling of both elegance and peace.
2. Wonderful Wallpaper
Wallpaper might not be as common as it used to be, but it is having a major comeback. This master bedroom shows off a patterned wallpaper, and I think it gives the space so much personality.
I really love the idea of letting a print or pattern wallpaper set the main theme in a master bedroom. It gives the room so much character without needing a ton of different decorative pieces to fill the space.
3. Eccentric with a Modern Touch
This room takes an eccentric approach to a modern master bedroom, with not much décor or even a headboard. Instead, you just see deco and shelves with some unique lamps that really pull the whole look together.
I am a big fan of adding a modern twist to any bedroom. While most beds have a headboard, this one ditched it completely and put up a mosaic décor piece behind the bed instead.
4. A Clear Theme
Showcasing a beach theme, this master bedroom is a perfect example of what a theme can bring to a bedroom. The room doesn’t scream beach; instead, it offers a subtle yet chic take on a beach theme with a twist.
I adore master bedrooms with a theme that is special to the homeowner. It makes the space feel more personal, and let’s be real, having a theme for your master bedroom can make designing it so much easier.
5. Perfect Symmetry
You will see perfect symmetry in this master bedroom. Symmetry is a very common element in traditional bedrooms. This particular room demonstrates exactly how to nail symmetry perfectly.
There is an exact copy of every single item on both sides, which gives the bedroom a symmetrical feel without being boring. I love the idea of carrying a cohesive design throughout the entire bedroom in a symmetrical way.
You can do this by creating a mirror image on each side of the room.
6. An Expansive Space
An expansive master bedroom is one that’s a bit larger than usual. This extra space lets you add more to the room, like a seating area or even a fireplace, just like in the picture.
What I love is that even though this bedroom features a more expansive décor, it still feels traditional.
7. One Solid Color
So many bedrooms are composed of lots of different colors. However, this bedroom is all about one solid color, and I happen to think it’s amazing. Everything from the walls down to the carpet is one solid color.
The look is broken up by using different shades of gray instead of just one gray everywhere. I love the idea of using a single shade for a bedroom, but breaking it down by using different tones and variations of it.
This décor idea works best when you stick with neutral tones instead of bright ones.
8. Contemporary Cool
This master bedroom is the epitome of what a contemporary bedroom should be. It’s fun and packed with personality without being too much, which is exactly the vibe you want if you’re trying to create a contemporary look.
I’m a huge fan of the idea of using different colors, shapes, and textures all over the room, including on the walls. There’s just something so modern about this space.
All the colors blend so well together, which I think is super important for a contemporary-themed bedroom.
9. A True Focal Point
This home includes floor-to-ceiling bookshelves that I personally just love. They are a brilliant way to add storage to a master bedroom without creating clutter. The shelves also serve as an eye-catching focal point that frames the bed.
This makes the bed the main focus in the room. I love the idea of making the bed the focal point because it makes the room seem larger than it really is and much more visually appealing.
10. Go Bold with Color
This master bedroom has a gorgeous, bold color as its main focus, while everything else stays neutral. I’m obsessed with the idea of using bold, vivid colors that really pop in a master bedroom.
You can decide to paint your walls a bold color, or you could use accessories to bring that pop of color into your room.
