Whether you’re in a new home or just updating your existing decor, it’s always a challenge to come up with new holiday decorating ideas. One of the questions I receive from readers is how to make a big impact without a huge budget or a lot of extra space.

Today, I wanted to just touch on one of the easiest and most impressive ways you can add more holiday flair to your home by incorporating Christmas window decorations.

Charming Wreaths

Besides ornaments, is there anything more festive than a wreath? I think not! We all know they look perfect on doors and walls, but I was so surprised by how great they look as window decorations. They add such a cozy feel.

If you want to replicate the look from Martha Stewart, you can try using these adorable mini wreaths.

The tiny wreaths are super cute, but the larger versions are just as beautiful. Just look at these gorgeous white wreaths featured at Green Style Gallery. Simply stunning!

Beautiful Glass Ornaments

You just can’t lose when you use a few colorful glass balls with some pretty ribbon. It’s so easy! All you do is tie each ornament to a piece of ribbon and then use tape or a thumbtack to hang it from the top of the window.

You can grab these elegant silver and gold glass balls or go for these more traditional but still chic red and white ones, all depending on your personal style!

Another clever idea from Michael’s shows a decorative display that uses a garland right above the window. I love this so much.

You could even cluster your ribbons and glass balls together for a full, bouquet-like look, just like this one I saw on Design Rulz.

Stunning Stars

The IKEA gallery I mentioned also had this gorgeous holiday window display. They hung two huge star-like lanterns in each window and then added silver and gold ornaments all around them. I mean, how beautiful is that?!

To get this look, you can find paper star lanterns here or get extra festive with this snowflake-shaped lantern instead!

Rustic Pinecones

Pinecones are such a great way to bring a little bit of that wintery outdoor feeling right into your home. This idea from Welke is just so adorable and rustic.

I love the little pieces of moss and tiny reindeer figurines they put on top of them.

If you want something with more of a holiday theme, you could string some frosted pinecones on red rope and tie it all together with a bit of green ribbon.

This is such an easy decoration to make yourself, or you could just get one from Etsy.

Dreamy Snowflakes

If you want to create that winter wonderland look inside your home, snowflake decorations will definitely do the trick.

I absolutely love this budget-friendly and beautiful example from The Yellow Cape Cod. They just used plastic dollar-store snowflakes and some fishing wire!

I saw such an interesting idea in one of IKEA’s photo galleries . They used bare branches placed in glass bottles and hung tiny snowflakes from them to really get that wintery vibe. It’s such a simple but stunning idea!

And why not combine snowflake ornaments with other types of decorations? This beautiful window display from Top Inspired looks both wintery and festive. It’s a winning combination in my book.

Sweet Candy Canes

I love this idea from Pink Pistachio that cleverly combines pinecones with candy canes to get that perfect Christmas look.

You could even skip the pinecones entirely and just hang the candy canes with some simple ribbon. How cute is that?!

Frosted Window Drawings

Okay you guys… here it is. This first idea isn’t something you can exactly hang up, but it definitely creates such a beautiful look! All you need is a temporary white window marker made for drawing on glass.

I think the white works so well because it looks just like frost or snow.

The best thing about these creative Christmas window decorations is that everyone can enjoy them, both inside and outside your house! Now, that is something to get a little excited about.

Take your holiday decor to the next level this year, and don’t be afraid to mix and match some of the beautiful ideas from above.
