Today I’m going to be showing you how you can use the beautiful combination of blue and yellow in your kid’s room and some of my favorite ways to bring this color scheme to life.

So if you are thinking of a room refresh and want to add a touch of style with a sunny, cheerful paint color, then look no further. I’ve got you covered!

Stylish Nursery Spaces

Blue is hands-down one of the most popular colors for modern nurseries, and design experts say it’s actually one of the best choices for that kind of space.

I think a mix of calming blue tones with eye-catching yellow shades is perfect for grabbing a baby’s attention, while also creating a super relaxing room that helps them get tons of sleep.

Things like wallpaper, rugs, and curtains are the easiest ways to bring these colors into a neutral nursery. If you’re totally sold on the yellow and blue idea, you can go all in and make it more permanent with paint.

Bring in Some Red

Does this sound like way too much color for one room? I promise it’s not, and these beautiful examples below show just how elegant it can be!

While putting blue and yellow together with splashes of red might seem a bit much in theory, the three colors can work in total harmony when you use them smartly.

Again, blue is usually the main color in this trio since it feels the most natural for the room’s background. That said, a soft, calming yellow can also take the lead in classic boys’ rooms.

The key here is to make little ‘pockets or blocks’ of color that don’t step on each other’s toes. And if you’re not feeling a bold red, you can always try a fun orange instead!

A Touch of Yellow

While getting the right mix of yellow and blue in a kid’s room isn’t too tricky, it seems like most people feel way more comfortable letting blue be the star of the show.

This might be because blue is such a go to for boys’ rooms, or maybe it’s just that the brighter yellows can feel a bit too loud for a space that’s meant for relaxing. W

hatever the reason, if you’re wanting to dress your child’s room in soft, light shades of blue, you can still bring in a gorgeous pop of yellow using accents and decor.

Whether you go for some beautiful yellow bedding and throw pillows, chic table lamps in a golden shade, daffodil yellow curtains, or even a stunning canary rug, just make sure you repeat that accent color in a few spots.

For the biggest visual punch, I’d keep the background as calm as possible.

Works With Any Style

Yellow and blue is a color duo that just seems to shine with a breezy, beachy style that feels both chic and effortless.

It’s not really a surprise, since the colors of the sun, surf, and sand are so easy to translate into a palette using different shades of yellow and blue.

You can give this whole look a fun twist by bringing in modern, nautical, or even industrial touches to make your child’s room truly one of a kind. I

n a modern bedroom, bright yellows are best used as accents, while blue and white usually take center stage in these polished spaces.
