There are so many options when it comes to redecorating a bedroom, but one of my favorite trends at the moment is the bohemian look.

In this article, I’m sharing some of my favorite boho bedroom ideas to inspire you, and help you create the perfect boho room for yourself.

1. Go for a Patterned Rug

A great rug can do wonders for a bedroom, especially when you’re aiming for that bohemian feel. I love how a rich-toned rug with a faded look feels so authentic and rugged. Blue is such a fantastic color choice because it pairs well with so many different tones.

Pattern is absolutely essential when you are trying to give your current decor a bohemian twist. Adding a bold, patterned rug creates so much visual appeal while still looking perfectly put together with that boho feel.

When you’re picking one out, I always suggest choosing a large rug. This will create a standout piece that really works in the room.

2. Layer Different Textures

Texture is a total game-changer in a bohemian space because of the visual interest it provides. It works so well for a bedroom with that lovely bohemian contrast. For the best result, try adding texture through your rugs, chairs, and linens. A textured chair is also a perfect addition!

When you’re thinking about bedroom decor, your first thought might be to fill it with comfortable things. That’s a great start, but for a true bohemian feel, you really want to play with different textures.

Don’t just stick to cotton. Try incorporating things like fringe, knitted comforters, or a shaggy rug. Mixing up the textures is what gives the room that easygoing vibe that bohemian style is all about.

3. Bring in Hanging Lights

Draping lights around the bed creates such a romantic feeling that’s also fun and perfectly bohemian. They can bring a soft, seductive vibe to the bed while still lighting up the room in the most natural way possible. It’s all about creating a natural space that looks and feels its absolute best.

You don’t have to stick with lamps just sitting on your night tables. Instead, try hanging lights from the ceiling or your walls. The goal is to create a soft feeling that isn’t structured at all.

You’re going for a soft, flowing feel throughout the entire space, and that includes your lighting. The right lights should really enhance the room’s bohemian vibe.

4. Try Sheer Curtains

Sheer curtains are amazing for windows, but they work just as well on a canopy bed. I think canopy beds are great because they are not only cute and cozy, but they instantly give the room a bohemian feel. Adding some lights to your canopy bed will make those sheer curtains look even better.

The bohemian style is all about creating a natural feel in the bedroom. The absolute best way to do that is by letting in as much sunlight as possible.

To get this look while still having window coverings, just add sheer curtains to all your windows. They’ll shield out some of the light but still allow most of that beautiful sunlight to stream into the room.

For a fun twist on a classic, you can choose colorful sheer curtains.

5. A Low-Profile Bed

If you’re not into a wooden bed frame or maybe no frame at all, think about putting your bed on the floor. You can add wooden pieces around it to give the whole look a bohemian twist. Incorporating white items is a great way to get a softer take on the bohemian style.

No matter how you decide to decorate, your furniture is going to be one of the very first things you think about changing or adding to the room.

A classic bohemian bed often involves a low wooden bed without a frame. The whole idea is to have a comfortable sleeping spot that looks and feels relaxed and laid back.

6. Add Some Houseplants

Plants have a way of bringing any space back to life, and the bedroom is definitely not an exception. Placing multiple plants around the room adds such a natural feel. For the ultimate pulled-together and bohemian style, add a swing! Using soft tones will bring the whole look together beautifully.

To stick with the natural feel that is so central to the bohemian style, you’ll definitely want to pick up a few houseplants.

Just adding a few plants in the bedroom creates a bohemian twist that will totally enhance the room and give it that fresh feeling you’re looking for.

7. Use an Instrument as Decor

Putting instruments on the wall is a great way to get a bohemian feel that is also natural and even multipurpose. The idea is to have a personal touch that also contributes a natural element to the room. To make the space feel even more intimate, you can match the instrument’s color to other items in the bedroom.

Do you play an instrument and have no idea where to store it? The answer is simple. Put it on the wall!

Decorating your walls with meaningful instruments that you play makes the room feel so much more personal while still vibing with the bohemian style. These instruments also add a bold feeling to the decor you already have.

8. Work in Metallic Frames

A little metallic touch can make a space feel even larger, especially when you bring a mirror into the room. Mirrors in different shapes will cast intricate and varied light into the space. The metallic accents are perfect for enhancing any floral and patterned decor you might already have.

You can decorate your walls with metallic frames to add to the natural feel of the space. Instead of hanging pictures or portraits, consider a metallic framed mirror or pictures of nature in a metal frame.

Metallic frames work especially well in a space that could use a bit of a natural feel without having to add more color.

9. Incorporate Fur

A fur blanket provides that perfect accessory you need to turn the bedroom into a bohemian oasis that speaks to you on a natural level. Add multiple pieces with different patterns and textures along with your fur elements to get that extra layer of texture you might want. You could even add a fur rug!

Fur is just so fun, casual, warm, and natural. Adding a fur piece to the room can bring it all together while keeping things very earthy and natural, yet still elegant.

A fur item also contributes beautifully to the textured feel you want to create in the bedroom.

10. A Touch of Wood

Wooden elements are a huge deal in a bedroom when you want to achieve a bohemian feel. Using wooden nightstands is a great way to get that wood element while also serving the multipurpose function of a nightstand. You can also choose to have a few different wooden elements in the space.

Giving your bedroom a bohemian twist means going as natural as you can with the decor. The more natural items you have in the bedroom, the better.

This is where adding a touch of wood really comes into play. Add one or more wooden accent tables to the room for a look that feels completely put together.
